Dress up with the cousins...
We have mixed feelings about "Halloween"... both of us grew up either dressing up or not... going to festivals... or not... and we understand it has become an Americanized holiday made for dress up and candy. The original roots are not really present (in children's activities)... although I really don't like scarey costumes.
I love Christmas and holiday decor... but I really do not understand Halloween decor. I still have flashbacks to a mom and a young (possibly prek) girl setting up tombstones with hands coming out of the ground back when we lived there... and I have always wondered... what kind of conversations do you have... hmmm??
We decided this year we would give it a try... Lila may just be able to grasp the concept of asking for candy and she may have fun getting dressed up. My hopes were high for both of these! LOL!
We chose strawberry shortcake because this girl LOVES strawberries... and she already had the red dress, green tights and brown shoes. So all I needed to make was the hat, apron and kitty purse. I had so much fun coming up with this costume from items around our house. She still carries the purse around to this day. LOVE that she loved that part so much.
She was a good sport getting dressed up and we added some rosy cheeks and a few freckles. walla! Strawberry shortcake!

October 28: Church Festival
love her many faces...
Strawberry Shortcake with Captain Jack, King Arthur, and Batman!
Ready to go to the church carnival.
uh oh! it's raining... everyone hop in!
Unfortunately we were all dressed up and us grownups didn't feel like calling it. We braved the rain and pressed on for the candy. LOL.

Family shot in the rain...
October 31st
We went trick-or-treating at Daddy's store, publix.
After our ER incident, Lila still isn't walking, so the wagon served a great purpose. Everyone loved seeing her and she loved getting more candy in her kitty purse.
She loved getting the candy... but she really wanted strawberries! too cute!
Please? Can I have one??
After trick-or-treating at Publix we made a quick stop to find out the goodies AHA & UA were passing out!
knock knock!
they were surprised to see us! (and Lila was startled by their excitement.)
princess gummies!
(my fav treat for her that she received the whole time and she loved it too!)
more?
Mommie, Daddy, and our little shortcake!
We had a wonderful time playing dress-up and experience both the festival and trick-or-treating... will we do it next year? we'll see!
